Diam Employer of the Year
05.03.06 : Yonkers , NY
By consolidating its headquarters into 435,000 square feet in Yonkers , Diam International brought in 850 jobs and was honored as Employer of the Year by the City of Yonkers by the Honorable Mayor Philip A. Amicone at the Yonkers Business Week Annual Awards Dinner on May 3.
Diam's relocation from Woodside , N.Y. to Yonkers was completed with the $17 million renovation of the 435,000 sq. ft. former Saks Fifth Avenue Distribution Center on Tuckahoe Road in late 2005. With it, the company brought jobs and business to the Yonkers economy, with many of the jobs occupied by Yonkers residents.
"We're very pleased that Diam International has become our latest partner in what is a continuing resurgence of the Yonker's economy," Amicone stated during a tour of the Diam facility. "Companies like Diam , who are adding local manufacturing jobs at a time when most are being outsourced overseas, have made Yonkers number one in the New York State in both job growth and total employment. I want to welcome Diam and its employees, who will be an integral part of our economy for years to come."
Jean-Andre Rougeot commented, " Yonkers has been a good move for it. It provides a strong work force and expanded capacity for our business. We are honored to be part of the Yonkers community and look forward to a continued strong relationship."
